Donald Helander

Donald Helander was born in Gävle, Sweden in 1940. When he was three years old, he and his family moved to Stockholm where he spent the rest of his life. Donald passed away in 1992.

In his late teenage years he developed a keen interest in photography. Later on, this lead him to work as a picture editor at Almqvist & Wiksell, a publisher of learning materials. Donald had a special interest in picturing the people, buildings and atmosphere of Stockholm in the 60’s and 70’s. Most of his work is done in black and white on 24x36 film.
